Our Story
Purpose led. People centred. Committed to mobility and diversity.
Our story - how The Migration Agency came about - is one we share proudly with clients.
Like you, The Migration Agency team comes from diverse backgrounds, personally, professionally, and culturally. Despite the differences, our personal, career and business interests and commitments mean we're searching for smarter, more innovative ways to capitalise on the value available through immigration.
A big part of our story is reflected in Sarah Thapa, The Migration Agency’s founder.
Even as a high school and university law student, I felt a deep affinity for human rights and international law. This was a strong foundation for the pathway which led me to where I am today.
Personal experience of refugee centre volunteering, combined with an affinity for languages - I speak Japanese and French - gave me confidence with working in culturally diverse environments. My international commercial law work while based in Europe, together with negotiating my own immigration visa in a foreign language, and a cross-cultural marriage means I have a deep understanding of what business and individuals need from a migration agency.
I established The Migration Agency to meet the gap I saw in the market - an Australian migration agency that put people first and delivered commercial solutions, innovation and strategic thinking.
Seeing most migration agencies take a transactional approach to migration - when a tailored approach to Australian immigration is what’s really required - prompted me to do things better. Add to that my corporate commercial law career in Europe and Australia, and it became obvious to me, businesses were also missing out. It seemed the benefits of clever migration strategy weren’t explained to anyone in ways they could understand and use them.
And so The Migration Agency was created.
The Migration Agency is the future of immigration
The global nature of business and life demands flexibility, intelligence, and strategic thinking around immigration.
Since opening our doors in 2015, we’ve opened up a world of possibility for blue chip corporates, small to medium-sized enterprises, and individuals, by addressing their Australian immigration challenges.
